Suzuki Launches The Swift Hybrid, Capable Of Returning 32 Kms To The Litre, In Japan
Suzuki has just launched the hybrid version of the popular Swift hatchback in the Japanese market.
Suzuki is back with its hybrid strength, now in the Swift. Suzuki Motor Corporation has just launched the hybrid variant of the ever so popular Swift hatchback in the Japanese market.
Swift Hybrid SL and Swift Hybrid SG are the two new variants. The new hybrid models are priced competitively, between 1,650,000 to 1,944,000 Japanese Yen (approximately between Rs 9.40 lakh and Rs 11 lakh).
The new Suzuki Swift Hybrid has a 10 kW motor generator unit paired with a 1.2-liter 4-cylinder petrol engine producing 89.7 bhp power.
The 5-speed Auto Shift Transmission, coupled with the K-Series 1.2 Litre petrol VTVT engine primarily drives the car. It is the same engine we see under the hood of the petrol variants of the swift in India.
The hybrid variants too measure 3480 mm long, 1695mm wide and 1500 mm tall, with a 2450 mm wheelbase.
Dual front airbags and dual side airbags come as standard features with the car. The all-new Swift Hybrid also comes with Dual Sensor Brake Support (DSBS) which uses advanced monocular camera and a laser sensor to detect other vehicles and pedestrians and brake the car.
DriveSpark Thinks!
Hybrid cars attract the highest tax at 43 percent in India under the GST scheme. This might discourage Suzuki from introducing the hybrid variants of the swift in India. They do not need to have them here as well, because the swift is selling pretty well as it is. However, we are looking forward to the next-gen swift being launched in India.
