A sportier version of the BMW i3, called the i3s will go on sale later this year. Here’s all you need to know.
German carmaker BMW is adding a Sport model to its electric i3 range, called the i3s. The sportier BMW i3s will go on sale in the US by this year end, along with the facelifted BMW i3.
The new BMW i3s will sport cosmetic as well as mechanical changes compared to the base i3 model. Upgrades include front and rear aprons with matching colour accents, 20-inch wheels, and a slightly lowered (0.4-inch) suspension.
On the mechanical front, the i3s will have an electric motor that will produce 184bhp and 270Nm of torque. The base model, on the other hand, will have 170bhp and 250Nm of torque. The 2018 BMW i3 range will include an optional range extender (internal combustion engine).

Also, for the year 2018, the entire i3 range will benefit from a wider track and styling tweaks to give the car a sportier look. BMW could retain the same battery pack as the 2017 model, which has a range of almost 185km.
The 2018 BMW i3 range will be unveiled later this year at the Frankfurt Motor Show, and prices will be announced toward the end of this year, just before going on sale.

Germany, along with other countries are looking at cutting down or evening banning diesel engines. This is a good reason to introduce electric cars and especially the facelifted i3, which gives customers the option to chose ana electric vehicle.
