Skoda India has announced the India launch details of the Rapid Monte Carlo Edition. The special edition Rapid Monte Carlo will be launched in India by the end of August 2017 and deliveries will begin the following month.
Skoda will begin bookings for the Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo by the end of August 2017 ahead of its launch, although it has not confirmed the booking amount for now.
The Czech company announced the details during the unveiling of the Skoda Kodaiq SUV in India. Skoda also announced the launch details of the Octavia vRS as well during the event held on August 10, 2017.
The Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo will come in a red exterior shade and an all-black interior. The sedan will also receive an all-black front grille, wing mirrors, 16-inch black alloy wheels and the tailgate spoiler will be in the black shade as well.
Inside the Rapid Monte Carlo, the sedan gets aluminium scuff plates, faux-carbon fibre trim on the dashboard, a flat bottom multi-function steering wheel, unique floor mats and upholstery with red stitching on the gear knob and aluminium sports pedals.
Powering the Monte Carlo edition of the Skoda Rapid is the 1.5-litre diesel and 1.6-litre petrol unit which does its duties on the regular model as well.
The diesel engine develops 108.5bhp and 250Nm of torque, while the petrol engine unit produces 103bhp and 153Nm of torque.
Both the engines are offered with the manual and automatic gearbox. While the petrol model is paired to a 6-speed automatic gearbox, the diesel unit is mated to the 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox.
We expect the Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo will be priced Rs 30,000 more than the regular model. It will compete with the likes of Honda City, the Volkswagen Venta, Maruti Ciaz and the upcoming next-generation Hyundai Verna.
The Skoda Rapid is currently the third best-selling executive sedan in India and is closely followed by Volkswagen Vento. With Hyundai gearing up to launch the next-generation Verna, Skoda is looking to offer new features and styling to increase its presence on the road.
