Skoda India was to launch its most powerful and fastest sedan, the Octavia RS on August 30, 2017. However, the Czech carmaker felt it was not the right time to launch the sedan when Mumbai and its citizens were reeling under heavy rains. The Skoda Octavia RS launch in India has been postponed to September 1, 2017.
The Octavia RS is a performance sedan and will be the first performance-oriented model from Skoda in India. Known as the Octavia vRS in the international market, in India it will be sold as the Octavia RS.
So how is the Octavia RS different to the regular Octavia and what are key aspects of the performance sedan? Here are five key aspects you should know about the Skoda Octavia RS.
The Skoda Octavia RS looks similar to the regular model, but it gets gloss-black treatment to its front grille with RS badge and LED fog lamps in RS badge. The sedan also comes with 17-inch alloy wheels.
The Skoda Octavia RS comes with LED headlamps and DRLs, and the headlamps come with an adaptive front lighting system (AFS) as well. At the rear, the Octavia RS comes with a red reflective strip and pair of sporty stainless steel tailpipes. The taillights are LED, and the registration plate comes with lighting as well.
Inside the cabin, you are treated to a multifunctional steering wheel with paddle shifters, Alcantara leather seats with red stitching, ambient lighting with programmable lighting.
The front sports seats feature integrated headrests, and the original RS logo is embroidered on the backrests. The foot pedals covers are stylish and are designed to enhance driver's comfort. Additionally, there are door decorative door sill strips in the front and carry the RS inscription.
The Skoda Octavia RS is loaded with features; the sedan receives panoramic sunroof with bounce back system, 12-way electrically adjustable driver and front passenger seats with the driver seat comes with programmable memory functions.
Also, the Octavia RS comes with cruise control, dual-zone auto climate control, rear adjustable AC vents, among others. On the entertainment front, the Octavia RS gets touchscreen infotainment system with SD card reader, Smartlink, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, USB, AUX-IN, Amundsen Navigation System and a whole lot of other features.
The Skoda Octavia RS is equipped with 9-airbags, ABS with EBD, Hydraulic Brake Assist (HBA), Brake Pad Indicator, and for traction, the sedan receives Anti-Slip Regulator (ASR), Electronic Differential Lock (EDL).
As for stability, the Octavia RS is equipped with Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Multi Collision Braking (MCB). There are many other warning systems to keep you safe.
