Czech automaker Skoda has confirmed that it is planning to develop an all-electric sports car. The electric car will be based on the MEB platform.
The future of the automobile industry is said to be the electric cars. And several automakers around the globe are working on developing EVs.
The latest addition to the list is Czech automaker, Skoda. The company has confirmed that it is looking to develop an all-electric sports car set to debut by 2025.

Skoda is planning to introduce five electric cars in the global market. The sports car is one among them. As per reports, the car will go on sale in the global markets by 2025.

Auto Express reports that the electric sports car from Skoda will be based on the MEB platform used across the Volkswagen group.

The Skoda electric sports car will be a rear-wheel-drive car with a single electric motor propelling the rear wheels. The single motor setup will also help to reduce the weight of the car.

The design cues of the electric sports car are likely to be inspired from the 110R sports coupe which commenced production in 1970. Skoda Technical Development head, Christian Strube said, "The story that Skoda is all about function, it is not true. Skoda has 120 years of history, it's full of emotion."

Skoda has not revealed any time frame for the project. The electric variant of the Skoda Citigo is set to debut in 2019. The Vision E concept SUV is likely to hit the market by 2020. One more electric SUV is expected to be launched before the debut of an electric sports car.
