Sewa Cab Begins Operation — Uber And Ola In Trouble?
The Sewa Cab service has commenced operation and is being promoted to be cheaper than Ola and Uber.
Sewa Cab, the driver-owned cab services has started operation, competing directly against Ola and Uber. Sewa Cab charges customers Rs 5 per kilometre, and the promotional poster claims it to be 'Cheaper than Ola-Uber'.
The Sewa Cab service began operation on 19 May, and the services were conceived of during the driver strikes which had spread across the country earlier this year.

The drivers came up with Sewa Cab after protesting with Ola and Uber for their bonuses and incentives that they were promised while signing up. The protest was to no avail, and hence, Sewa Cab was introduced.

Sewa Cab, although only a few days old, is slowly making its presence on the roads of Delhi. The app has already seen over a thousand downloads since introduced.

The app needs a customer to sign in with his mail id and phone number. The app has two variants - Eeco, which costs Rs 5/km, and Alpha, which costs Rs 6/km. Both variants have a Rs 40 base fare and a time charge of Rs 1.5/minute.

Unlike Ola and Uber, the Sewa Cab vehicle can also be hailed directly from the streets. The driver will input the customer's phone number into the app, and the fare will be displayed at the end of the ride.
