Renault Join Hands With Otkal To Develop Autonomous Vehicles
French automaker Renault has announced its new joint venture with Otkal to develop autonomous technology.
French automaker Renault has announced the acquisition of 35 percent stake in the new joint venture, Autonomous Vehicle Simulation (AVS). The JV is formed together with Oktal.
The newly formed AVS joint venture will also benefit Renault-Nissan Alliance which plans to launch ten vehicles with autonomous technology by 2020.

Renault and Otkal have already commenced the virtual testing of Autonomous vehicles using SCANeR simulation software. Renault invented the software, and it is co-developed by Otkal.
Executive Vice President, Product Engineering of Groupe Renault, Gaspar Gascon said, "This acquisition supports Groupe Renault's strategy to deliver the vehicle of the future: electric, connected and autonomous."

CEO of Otkal said, "Along with Renault's investment, we will significantly accelerate the development of SCANeR Studio's new features dedicated to the Autonomous/Connected vehicle."
