Renault Teases New Compact MPV For India — Will Compete With Maruti Ertiga
Renault Confirms New Compact MPV For India.
Groupe Renault, the parent company of Renault India, has announced their 'Drive the Future' mid-term plan for the 2017-2022 period. In the plan, Renault's has earmarked four launches for India, among them is a compact MPV.
The French carmaker will be employing the extended version of the CMF-A platform, which currently underpins the Kwid and redi-GO hatchbacks, for the MPV.
Thierry Bolloré, Chief Competitive Officer of Groupe Renault, said, "We will launch a compact MPV in the Indian market, a car to transport many adults but in less than 4 meters length." However, he came short of confirming the exact launch details.

Renault India's current product lineup includes Kwid hatchback, Duster SUV, and the Lodgy MPV with the Captur joining the list soon.
The Renault Lodgy has found it challenging to clock sales in the Indian market, but Renault feels the road infrastructure in India will improve in the coming future and the demand for personal transportation bound is to increase.

With Renault Captur set to be the first launch among the four earmarked for India, now, a compact MPV is confirmed as well. The other two vehicles are expected to be a compact SUV and an electric Kwid.

The MPV market in India is currently dominated by the Toyota Innova Crysta and the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. Renault India will look to target the sub-4 meter MPV with new and premium features to set it apart from its competitors.
That said, the MPV market in India is on the decline, and it could be for Renault to launch a new compact MPV in India.
