Renault India has finally taken the wraps off its flagship vehicle, the Captur crossover SUV. The Captur is slated to launch in India in October 2017, and ahead of its launch, it has already created an atmosphere of excitement in the compact SUV segment.

The Renault Captur is based on the MO platform which underpins the Duster and the Lodgy. The competition in the SUV segment in India is on the rise, and Renault wants to capitalize the demand with the stylish new Captur.

The Renault Captur is offered in both petrol and diesel engines which power the Duster as well. The petrol Captur is equipped with the H4K 1.5-litre petrol engine that produces 105bhp of max power with peak torque of 142Nm. The diesel Captur is powered by the K9K 1.5-litre dCi diesel unit producing 109bhp and 240Nm.

While a 5-speed manual gearbox is mated to the Renault Captur petrol model, a 6-speed manual gearbox does its duty on the diesel variant. There is no automatic gearbox on offer.

The Hyundai Creta too comes with a choice of petrol and diesel models. The Creta is available with two diesel and one petrol engine: 1.4-litre CRDi, 1.6-litre CRDi, and 1.6-litre petrol.

The Renault Captur looks upmarket and premium while it lacks in some areas such as safety features and engine options. The Hyundai Creta is a tried and tested model in India, and along with robust safety features and premium infotainment system, the Creta definitelyticks most of the right boxes.

The Renault Captur on the other hand, the crossover SUV looks modern and premium compared to the Creta. The Captur edges out the Creta in terms of design, dimensions, and roomier cabin.
