CarandBike reports that Renault India will launch the crossover SUV in October 2017. The report also states that the bookings for the Captur will commence after the official reveal.
The India-spec Renault Captur is likely to draw power from the existing 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines deployed in the Duster. The petrol unit produces 105bhp and 142Nm of torque. The diesel engine is offered in two tune options, 79bhp and 108bhp. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual gearbox or an optional CVT gearbox.
The Captur is based on the same platform which also underpins the Duster. The front fascia of the SUV features chrome grille, sweptback headlamps with projector lights, C-shaped LED daytime running lights and wide bumper.
The side profile of the Captur gets black plastic cladding which enhances the rugged look of the SUV. Apart from that, the crossover is equipped with 17-inch diamond cut alloy wheels. The interior could sport a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system and features such as keyless entry and automatic climate control.
Renault is all set to launch the Captur in India. When launched the SUV will lock horns with the likes of Hyundai Creta and even the base variant of the Jeep Compass. The Captur is likely to be priced in the range of Rs 11 lakh to Rs 16 lakh ex-showroom.
