Reigning F1 Champion Nico Rosberg Takes Up Mercedes Ambassador Role
Valtteri Bottas emerged as the replacement for Rosberg and confirmed his participation with Mercedes team on Monday.
Reigning Formula One world champion Nico Rosberg has accepted an ambassadorial role with Mercedes team for 2017, which means the champion won't be leaving the motorsport scene entirely. The German team has officially confirmed this on Monday.
Rosberg shocked everyone when he made the decision to retire from F1 just days after claiming his first and 2016 drivers' world title in the last race at Abu Dhabi. His departure left the German team in a great trouble to find a replacement.
Valtteri Bottas emerged as the replacement for Rosberg and confirmed his participation with Mercedes team on Monday. With Bottas leaving the Williams team, Felipe Massa came out of retirement to fill the vacant seat.
As the ambassador for Mercedes team, Rosberg's first commitment will see him alongside his former team-mate and rival Lewis Hamilton in Geneva on behalf of team partner IWC Schaffhausen.
