Range Rover Velar India Launch Details Revealed
Land Rover will launch the Range Rover Velar in India in November 2017.
The fourth SUV from the Range Rover family, the Velar will be launched in India in November 2017.
The Range Rover Velar will sit between the Evoque and Range Rover Sport. The SUV which was unveiled earlier this year is expected to offer new "levels of luxury, refinement and all-terrain capability".
The Velar carries the Range Rover DNA and is underpinned by the same technology as the similar-sized Jaguar F-Pace. However, unlike the F-Pace, the Velar is all-wheel drive and comes with Land Rover's full suite of off-road technology, including Terrain Response 2.
The Velar's design is derived from the philosophy of reduction in design and engineering. The company claims the Velar is most aerodynamic Land Rover yet and its design has not changed much in the three years since it was first presented internally.
Inside the cabin, one of the significant new technology is a new Touch Pro Duo infotainment system with two 10-inch touchscreens, described as ‘secret-until-lit' surfaces.
Also, the SUV also incorporates a plethora of advanced technologies and one such feature is the super-slim matrix-laser LED headlights among others.
The Range Rover Velar offers a host of safety features including six airbags, and a set of advanced driver assistance systems including Autonomous Emergency Braking with pedestrian detection, Adaptive Cruise Control with Queue Assist (standard on HSE) and an Adaptive Speed Limiter.
Globally, the Range Rover Velar is offered with both petrol and diesel engine options. The list includes 2.0-litre Ingenium petrol unit in two states of tune producing 246bhp/ 365Nm of torque and 296bhp/ 400Nm of torque respectively and a 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 unit which churns out 375bhp and 450Nm of torque.
As for the diesel engine options, it includes the 2.0-litre Ingenium in two states of tune churning out 177bhp/ 430Nm of torque and 237bhp/ 500Nm of torque and a 3.0-litre V6 powertrain which develops 296bhp and 700Nm of torque.
Each of these engines will come paired with the ZF 8-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive with Intelligent Driveline Dynamics.
The Range Rover Velar will compete with the likes of Volvo XC90, Jaguar F-Pace, Porsche Macan, BMW X5, and Audi Q7.
