Porsche Under The Scanner For Defeat Device In Germany
Volkswagen Group's Porsche and Audi are under the scanner for the defeat device in Germany.
German carmaker Volkswagen Group's emission scandal is gradually starting to settle in the US market. But in Europe, it's the opposite.
The brands under the scanner are Audi and Porsche. In Germany, Porsche has been investigated for using defeat device software. The defeat device will hide the emissions from the authorities.

Germany's transport authority, KBA is investigating the vehicle for the usage of defeat device. The device is said to work on the movement of the steering wheel to identify whether the vehicle is on a test bed.

But Porsche has denied the usage of defeat device. Following the investigations, KBA stated that few Audi A7 and A8 diesel models were sold in Europe were equipped with the defeat device.

The vehicles fitted with defeat device emit excessive nitrogen oxides when the steering wheel is turned more than 15 degrees. Audi has also recalled 24,000 A7 and A8 models.

Audi has stated that the cars manufactured between 2010 and 2013 emit nitrogen oxide more than the permissible limit. The company also said that engine revs would also have an impact on the emission.

Audi stated that a simple software fix could rectify the problem which can be done within 30 minutes. In the US market, Volkswagen Group has agreed to pay over 20 million dollars as penalty and settlement.
