German sports car manufacturer Porsche has decided to put an end to the naturally aspirated engines. Yes, the iconic brand is planning to equip the eight-gen 911s with the turbocharged engines, which are slated to debut in 2019.

The next-generation Porsche 911 is code named as 922, the new generation of Porsche 911's will get a range of turbocharged engines and apart from that, Porsche might also introduce a hybrid 911 by 2020.

The German car maker has stated that it has achieved the best balance of power and efficiency on its 3.4-litre and the 3.6-litre flat-six engines and the company tried its best to hold on to the naturally aspirated engines for as long as possible.

The eight-generation Porsche 911s will be offered with a host of updates to the aerodynamics, overall weight, drivetrains and much more.

The naturally aspirated engine draws air into the cylinder from the atmosphere. During the intake stroke, a partial vacuum is created by pistons and that's when the air enters through intake valves. Due to lesser moving parts the naturally aspirated engines are said to be more reliable.

Whereas a turbocharged engine is a forced induction engine. In this system, a turbine driven by exhaust gases will pump more air into the cylinder, which in turn increases the efficiency and power output of the engine.
