Peugeot Cars For India Might Include Two Engines
Both the petrol and diesel powertrains from Peugeot are Euro 6 compliant
PSA Group has reached an agreement with CK Birla Group to manufacture cars in India. As a matter of fact, Avtec, the company from CK Birla Group already manufactures engines for PSA Powertrain, a division of Groupe PSA which began in 2011.
With the SUV trend on the surge in the Indian market as well as around the globe, an SUV from the PSA is expected, apart from a compact car model. PSA has the engines to power the two models and it is safe to say that it could make it easy for PSA to enter the mainstream passenger car segment.
Avtec showcased two Euro 6-compliant engines at the 2016 Auto Expo held in Delhi which could very power the cars from PSA in India.
The engine showcased include a 1,999cc four-cylinder diesel engine which produces 174bhp and 400Nm of torque. This engine with higher torque is suitable for SUVs and LCVs than cars.
As for the second engine, this is a 1,200cc three-cylinder petrol turbocharged capable of churning out 128bhp and 230Nm of torque. This mill is suitable to power a B-segment car.
PSA has not confirmed which model will make it to the Indian market, though the 301 seems to a probable model for the country. The 2008 is also a probable model for the Indian market; however, the company will decide which model will be introduced in the country.
