Paris To Ban Petrol And Diesel Vehicles By 2030; Will India Follow The Same?
One of the major cities in the worl, Paris is planning to ban petrol and diesel vehicles by 2030.
The pollution from petrol and diesel vehicles is getting worse with the increase in the number of vehicles being sold around the world.
To cope up with the situation, Paris has come up with a solution. Reuters reports that Paris will ban all petrol and diesel vehicles by 2030 and will completely stop the sales by 2040.
Similar to other major cities in the world, Paris has imposed strict regulations on petrol and diesel vehicles to put a brake on increasing pollution. The city has rules such as car-free days and does not allow cars older than 20 years to ply on the roads.
Now, Paris will pass a new order to use only electric vehicles from 2030. But this new rule will not affect the people of Paris because of the robust public transportation system. And many people don't own cars, so it should not be a problem for the residents of Paris.

Paris City Hall has declined to call the move as a ‘ban' on petrol and diesel vehicles. Instead, it calls it as a deadline for the exit of combustion-engine vehicles. Paris is also preparing to host the 2024 Olympics, so, we could see a bit of progress on the ban by 2024.
Apart from that France will also end the sale of petrol and diesel vehicles by 2040, Britain has also announced the same timeframe for ending the sale of combustion-engine vehicles. Countries like the Unites States, Germany and China are also planning to join the bandwagon.
The government of India also plans to have all-electric vehicles on the roads by 2030. So, will India follow the same? It all depends on the development of infrastructure for electric vehicles in the country. But it would be a challenging task to ban petrol and diesel vehicles as early as 2030.
