Nio EP9 Shocks the Green Hell; Shatters Nurburgring Lap Record
Chinese Electric carmaker Nio's EP9 electric hypercar claims to have broken the lap record fro production cars at the Nurburgring.
Chinese electric carmaker Nio last year bought its EP9 hypercar to the Nurburgring and it lapped the track known as a Green Hell in a blistering time of 7:05.12.

While many would have left it at that, NIO returned to the Ring this year and are now claiming that the EP9, which recently took the lap record for production cars at the Circuit of the Americas in the United States, has now taken over the top spot for production cars at the Nurburgring.

Returning to the ring, the 1,341bhp (and 6,333Nm of torque) Nio EP9 blistered the asphalt at the Green Hell with an insane lap time of 6:45.9, which is over 6 seconds faster than the previous lap record holder, the Lamborghini Huracan Performante, which lapped the 20.8-kilometre track in 6:52.01s.

Nio has not released an official video showing the EP9 on its record-breaking lap around the Nordschleife for all to see. However, the company claims it will release the video next week, which should hopefully silence all naysayers wearing bulls on their sweaty t-shirts.
