Next-Generation Suzuki Swift Sport Will Be Insanely Light
The next-generation Suzuki Swift Sport will be lighter compared to the currently sold model. Read now to know more details about the sporty hatchback.
Suzuki has already launched the next-gen Swift hatchback in several global markets. Now the company is set to launch the sportier iteration of the hatchback, the Swift Sport.
According to a report from Car Throttle, the next-generation Swift Sport will lose some weight to improve the dynamics of the car. The currently sold Swift Sport weighs just 1,070kg.
But according to emerging reports, the next-generation Suzuki Swift Sport will weigh just 870kg. The sporty hatchback loses a whopping 200kg compared to the previous model.
The next-gen Swift Sport will draw power from a 1.4-litre four cylinder turbocharged Boosterjet engine. The engine produces 138bhp and 220Nm of torque. The new engine replaces the naturally aspirated 1.6-litre motor.
With the reduction in weight, the power-to-weight ratio of the new Swift Sport stands at 159bhp per tonne. The next-gen Swift Sport surpasses the Toyota 86 in terms of power-to-weight ratio.
The new Swift Sport is likely to be equipped with the same 6-speed manual transmission and an optional CVT gearbox. The car gets more aggressive styling with large front grille, rear diffuser and twin exhausts.
The weight reduction in a car brings several benefits. Improved handling, less wear on tyres and brakes, less stress on suspension and the most important one, reduced fuel consumption.
