New Maruti Swift India Launch In 2018; Production Starts From December
Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch the new Swift in India. The production will start from December.
India's leading car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki is all set to introduce the new-gen Swift hatchback in India at the 2018 Auto Expo in February.
Now, ET Auto reports that the production of the new Swift will commence from December 1, 2017. The new avatar of the hatchback will be manufactured at the company's Gujarat plant.
The current-gen Maruti Swift is being manufactured at the Manesar plant in Haryana which has a manufacturing capacity of 2,50,000 units per annum. So, Maruti Suzuki has decided to shift the production of the new Swift to Gujarat plant which currently produces Baleno.
The recently launched Maruti Dzire has a huge demand and has already sold over one lakh units in just five months. The sedan commands a waiting period of three to four months. Same can be expected when the new Swift is launched in the country.

The Gujarat plant commenced its operations earlier this year; the second plant is likely to be operational by the end of 2018 or early 2019. The new plant will add an additional capacity of 2,50,000 units per year.
The new-gen Maruti Swift features an all-new design while retaining the signature Swift styling. The front and the rear end of the car has been redesigned to keep the model updated. The side profile almost remains the same.
On the mechanical front, the new Swift will draw power from the existing 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel engine. Both the engines are likely to be offered with an automatic gearbox along with the manual unit. The interior of the car will get few additional features and premium upholstery.
