As for the interiors, the dual-tone i20 will get all-black interiors with contrasting orange inserts. The dual-tone Elite i20 is only available on the Asta trim.

The i20's new shade Marina Blue is also seen as the company's answer to the rival Maruti Baleno's popular Premium Urban Blue shade.

The new Elite i20 also gets an improvement in equipment levels with the 7-inch touchscreen AVN system which is now available from the Asta trim level; additionally, it receives Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Mirror Link connectivity.

The new Elite i20 also receives six airbags - for the driver, co-passenger as well as side curtains.

Under the hood, the i20 remains unchanged; the 1.2 litre Kappa dual VTVT petrol mated with a five-speed manual gearbox, a 1.4-litre dual VTVT petrol coupled with a 4-speed automatic gearbox and a 1.4 U2 CRDi diesel engine mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox are offered by Hyundai.

Launching the New Elite i20, Hyundai Motor India Ltd. managing director and CEO, YK Koo, said, "The Elite i20 has been a runaway global success, selling over 300,000 units since its launch in 2014. The new 2017 Elite i20, with more first-in-segment features, will further enhance the brand's appeal offering premium safety, performance and exceptional driving experience to the customers."

Hyundai sells around 9,000-10,000 units of the Elite i20 every month, the second best-selling vehicle for the Korean giant in India.

With the recent update, Hyundai will look to be competitive in the premium hatchback segment which is currently led by Maruti Suzuki Baleno.
