2018 BMW X3 Revealed; Is Faster And More Efficient
BMW just revealed the all-new X3, with an M Performance model to rival the Mercedes-AMG GLC43 and Porsche Macan GTS.
BMW officially revealed the all-new 2018 BMW X3 at its soon-to-be-expanded factory in Spartanburg, the U.S.A. Since its debut in 2003, the X3 has developed into one of BMW's most notable models.
The third generation BMW X3 receives all new sheet metal with same design language as the smaller X1 and larger X5. The company has developed the X3's aerodynamic characteristics with better-regulated air flow around the SUV utilising active grille shudders, underbody cladding, and a rear spoiler.
The X3's platform has been re-engineered to decrease its overall weight and its wheelbase extended to reach 50-50 weight distribution ratio.
Up front, the all-new X3 sports a larger kidney grill with slightly smaller LED headlamps, as well as a new hexagonal LED fog light treatment. At the rear, there's a redesigned set of optional LED taillights and the first-ever factory installed a trailer hitch on an X3.
Inside the cabin, BMW has featured the new X3 with a 10.25-inch infotainment screen, redesigned "driver-focused" dashboard, but you'll see familiar HVAC and audio controls in the centre stack.
There is also, a larger panoramic moonroof, new full-color heads-up display, renewed three-spoke steering wheel, and ventilated front seats all distinguish the new X3 from the previous model. Additionally, the rear seats will tilt and fold individually to improve cargo storage options.
The significant differences are found on the technological side. The infotainment screen now features BMW's gesture controls; the new X3 will provide autonomous by adding a planned lane change assist function and vehicle-to-vehicle communication along with the usual "BMW CoPilot" suite of driver assistance features.
The all-new BMW X3 will come with two trims: an XDrive30i powered by a 248-horsepower, turbocharged inline-four engine, and an M40i rocking a 355-horsepower, 3.0-liter inline six. The M40i will be the first M-Sport variant of the X3, capable of 0-100 km/h in 4.6 seconds and a 250km/h top speed.
Both the units come coupled to the BMW's robust 8-speed Steptronic automatic gearbox which sends power to all four wheels.
For India, BMW is expected to bring the new X3 probably by 2018 to compete with the Audi Q3 and Mercedes-Benz GLE.

BMW has updated its most popular model X3 with new and autonomous features, which have become a norm in luxury cars in recent past, to take on the mid-size SUV segment.
