BMW 5 Series India Launch Confirmed For June 29 — Here’s What You Should Know
BMW has confirmed the launch date of the new 5 Series in India, and is bringing a host of surprises too.
BMW has confirmed that the new 5 Series will be launched in India on June 29. The new 5 Series was revealed last year and not only does it borrow tech from the 7 Series, but will be larger and lighter than the outgoing 5 Series.
For the Indian market, BMW will offer three engine options, all paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

There will be two diesel engines on offer — a 2.0-litre motor that produces 190bhp under the hood of the 520d, and a 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine that makes 265bhp in the 530d.

The third engine option from BMW is a potent 2.0-litre petrol unit that will make 252bhp, the same engine found under the hood of the 330i GT. BMW will call it the 530i.

On the tech front, the new 5 Series will feature gesture control for the iDrive system, adaptive dampers; remote parking assist, multi-zone climate control, electric seats, and LED headlights.

When launched, the new BMW 5 Series will compete with the Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB, Jaguar XF, Audi A6, and the Volvo S90. Expect the new 5 Series to carry a price tag of Rs 53 lakh upward.
