Previously it was reported that Mahindra is working on an all-new SUV. But now CarDekho reports that a more powerful XUV500 is in the works.
Currently, the Mahindra's flagship SUV is powered by a 2.2-litre turbocharged mHAWK diesel engine producing 140bhp and 330Nm of torque. The new engine will bump up the power figures and will be launched by this year's festive season.
With the new engine, it will be a powerful avatar of the current-gen XUV500. The updated SUV will take on the likes of Tata Hexa, Toyota Innova Crysta and the Hyundai Tucson.
As per emerging reports, the all-new XUV500 will hit the markets by 2019. So, Mahindra will have enough time on their hand to test and get feedback on the new engine.
