Mini Reveals Its New Logo — First Change Since The Brand Was Relaunched In 2001
Mini New Logo Revealed
Mini showed off its new logo, a more streamlined design that will appear on the brand's cars from March 2018, although the changes are hard to spot.
The new logo kept the winged wheel motif and capitalised Mini lettering, but the overall design is simplistic in approach and keeps the essential elements. Out with the 3-D-styled black and grey logo, Mini looks to usher in a new era with a simple design.
The intentional evasion of the three-dimensional shading and grey tones on the new logo is meant to communicate the "authenticity and clarity" of the brand in the future. The flat design of the new logo also makes it accessible for Mini to place it on more surfaces and not restricted to specific models.

The current logo was conceived back in 2001 under BMW and was inspired by the 1990 Mini Cooper badge, which itself was influenced by the Morris Mini Minor logo. The new Mini logo will appear on the hood, steering wheel, rear liftgate, and key fob.
The brand has revealed this badge in the Mini Electric Concept which debuted this year in Frankfurt. Mini also showed off a massively revised Hardtop exterior that included taillights with Union Jack LED elements and headlights with new LED accents.
Possibly we'll witness some of those styling ideas on the revised Mini Hardtop. Mini intends to introduce an all-electric model for 2019, and this concept should give us a good idea of what we can expect from a Mini-E replacement.
DriveSpark Thinks!
The new Mini logo looks outdated and simple, yet conveys the future of the brand especially when the automotive industry around the globe is looking to electrifying its cars.
