Mercedes CEO Roland Folger Plans To Launch BS-VI Products Before The Deadline
Mercedes-Benz India Managing Director and CEO Roland Folger is planning to launch BS VI vehicles before the given deadline. Here's why?
In order to get rapid results for the development of BS-VI in India, the government should look at giving financial inducements to vehicles complying with the stricter emission norms before 2020, which, is the deadline.

The above statement was made by a Mercedes-Benz India executive. So, as the government is deciding to advance the proposition of BS-VI fuel in Delhi NCT to April 1, 2018. With this, the German luxury carmaker is prepared to launch BS-VI products before 2020.

Mercedes-Benz India Managing Director and CEO Roland Folger stated: "Also, to make this more effective and gain momentum, the government should also support this shift towards BS-VI with financial incentives for those vehicles that pre-fulfill BS-VI vehicle requirements before 2020."

He further stated, "the government is thinking in the right direction and there is a strong determination shown to address the issue of pollution". Folger also mentioned to the PTI that the introduction of BS-VI fuels ahead of schedule must be extended to other cities as well.

So basically, Mercedes is looking at launching their BS-VI products earlier than the deadline given by the government as the company feels its a positive move and will help bring down the growing pollution graph.

Last week, three oil PSUs - IOC, Hindustan Petroleum Corp Ltd (HPCL) and Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd (BPCL) said they are ready to supply BS-VI grade petrol and diesel to the national capital from their refineries at Mathura, Bina, and Bhatinda from April 2018.

DriveSpark Thinks!
In our opinion, since the BS-VI grade petrol and diesel are going to be available, launching the BS VI complaint vehicles before the deadline will be a boon to the environment. So, it's better if the government agrees to what Mercedes Benz is proposing to them.
