Mercedes-Benz Will No More Offer The Three-Pointed Hood Ornament On The C-Class

The three-pointed star hood ornament will be dropped for the 2018 Mercedes C-Class in the USA.

You read that right; instead, Mercedes-Benz will incorporate the logo on the front grille like the cars offered in the Indian market. The three-pointed star hood ornament will be dropped for the 2018 model of the C-Class in the US.

Now if one might wonder why — Mercedes feels that buyers are shying away from the car as the hood ornament makes the car look old. The carmaker is trying to attract younger customers to buy the C-Class, and dropping the ornament seems to be the right idea, at least for the carmaker.

Along with the 'ornament-dropping' upgrade, the 2018 Mercedes-Benz C-Class will get other styling and interior tweaks. Mercedes will offer the C-Class in two trims, the C300 and C350e. An AMG version will also be on offer.

DriveSpark Thinks!

Dropping the hood ornament to attract young customers may not be the best of ideas, but if it works, Mercedes is happy. For customers in other parts of the world though, the three-pointed logo is something they would not want to trade for sportiness.
