Mercedes GLA Design & Features

The facelifted Mercedes GLA sports a chunkier front bumper and the bi-xenon headlamps of the older car have been replaced by full LED units which still play host to the LED daytime running lights. The headlamps flank the new grille which looks brawnier than before. The three-point Mercedes Star at the centre of the grille lights up whenever the SUV is locked or unlocked and when a door or the boot is opened.

From the sides, the new GLA features a more SUV-ish stance compared to the pre-facelift car thanks to the increased ride height. The GLA sits on 18-inch alloy wheels that are shod with 235/50 R18 tyres.

At the rear, the big changes come in the form of the LED taillights which feature a dark border element. Also changed is the rear bumper that looks more rugged.

As owners step inside the new GLA, they will be greeted by the illuminated door sills. Other new features include a large 8-inch infotainment display which also sports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Other features inside include a revised instrument cluster with new dials, electrically adjustable driver and front passenger seats, stainless steel pedals, ambient lighting in 12 different colours, and a panoramic sunroof.

In terms of safety, the new 2017 GLA sports six airbags, ABS, Brake Assist, Adaptive Braking, Hill-Start Assist, Electronic Stability Control and Acceleration Skid control. Mercedes has also added the Attention Assist feature which detects if the driver is drowsy and gives visual audio warnings to get the driver's attention.
