The Mercedes-AMG GT R has set the lap record for being the fastest production car around the famed Buddh International Circuit (BIC). The soon-to-be-launched Mercedes flagship managed to lap the circuit in 02:09.853.
The test was conducted by the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI) and behind the wheel of the GT R was AMG Driver Christian Hohenadel. The GT R managed to break the previous lap record, which was also held by Mercedes, on the SLS AMG (2:14.521).
The Mercedes-AMG GT R is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 that develops 570bhp and 700Nm of torque, mated to a 7-speed automatic gearbox. The GT R can sprint to 100km/h from a standstill in 3.6 seconds and go on until it reaches a top speed of 316km/h.
Mercedes is readying the launch of the AMG GT R in India on August 21, 2017. The new record set by the car at Buddh is enough to make prospective customers, and fans fall in love with the car all over again, and for Mercedes, selling record-setting cars in India will help sales.
