Mercedes Formula 1 team has revealed its new car, the 2017 W08 EQ Power+ at the Silverstone circuit in the UK. The car features a host of updates compared to the previous car.

Reigning Formula 1 world champions Mercedes- AMG revealed the 2017 W08 EQ Power+ F1 car with a host of new updates compared to the previous car, the W07.

The new car was revealed at the Silverstone circuit in the UK, with the car making its track debut first. The 2017 car gets a host of changes as per the revised FIA regulations.

The 2017 Silver Arrows now sits wider and lower compared to the championship winning W07 from last year. Mercedes states that only 17 percent of the W07's components were carried on the 2017 W08.

The 2017 Formula 1 car features new shapes on the front and rear wing, floor and barge board in front of the side pods, extremely light rear-end package and smaller fin on the engine cover.

Another interesting fact is the new EQ Power+ suffix added to the 2017 Mercedes W08. The EQ is the manufacturer's new sub-brand for electric mobility that was revealed last year at the Paris Motor Show.

The livery of the new car also features a new electric blue signature graphic to showcase the hybrid powertrain, which hints the Formula E entry with an electric version of F1 by next decade.

The engine of the 2017 W08 has gained some weight compared to the previous unit to maintain the structural properties. The increased downforce will result in 10 percent more time at full throttle.

Due to this, the cars will be allowed a 5 percent increase in race fuel this season. The driver lineup for the 2017 season consists of Lewis Hamilton and newly recruited Valtteri Bottas replacing Nico Rosberg.
