India's growing supercar scene features almost all the major players in the game including Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini, Aston Martin and Maserati among many others. However, despite the arrival of two of its cars on Indian roads, British marque McLaren currently does not have an official presence in India.
All that is set to change in 2018, as according to a report by Autocar India, McLaren is set to bring its entire range of cars to India as it looks to expand sales worldwide in a bid to reach its global sales target for 2023 of 5,000 cars sold per year.
McLaren will introduce its entire lineup of cars in India except for limited run P1 hypercar and the 675 LT and 675 LT Spyder supercars which are all currently sold out.
However, every car in the Sports series - the entry-level 540C, the trio of 570S Coupe Spyder and GT - along with the 650S (both Coupe & Spyder versions) and the brand new 720S will all make their way into India.
The entry-level 540C is expected to deliver the bulk of the 10 cars McLaren plans to sell every year in India and will be priced aggressively to help it compete against its well-established rivals already on sale in India.
McLaren's expected entry into India in 2018 shows the growing popularity of supercars in the nation. Considering, the crazy reaction to the 720S supercars registered abroad that are already plying in India, Mclaren may find themselves pleasantly surprised with the demand for their cars in the sub-continent.
