Maruti Suzuki Ciaz Completes Successful Tests With New Engine
India’s leading passenger vehicle manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki has completed the tests of the Ciaz with a new engine.
India's leading passenger vehicle manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki has completed the tests of the Ciaz with a new diesel engine.
TeamBHP reports that an insider from Maruti Suzuki has revealed this piece of information. The automaker has tested the Ciaz with a new 1.5-litre diesel engine.
Maruti Suzuki is planning to equip the Ciaz with a larger capacity engine to compete against its rivals. With the successful tests of the new engine, the automaker has taken first steps to update the sedan.
Currently, the Ciaz is offered with a 1.3-litre oil burner producing 89bhp and 200Nm of torque. The 1.3-litre motor is the least powerful and smallest engine in its segment in the country.
As per customers, the engine is underpowered and suffers from a turbo lag. The engine is sourced from Fiat and Maruti has to pay a hefty royalty fee to the Italian firm. So, the company has decided to ditch the 1.3-litre engine.
The performance figures of the new 1.5-litre engine are yet to be revealed. The new engine is developed in-house by Suzuki Apart from the diesel motor; the company is said to be working on a 1.5-litre petrol engine.
