Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Might Be Rebranded With A New Name
The new Maruti Wagon R might be renamed as Wagon R Minor and will be offered in the top variant - VXi+ AGS and expected to be priced in the range of Rs 4.13 lakh to Rs 5.36 lakh.
Maruti Suzuki might rename the Stingray hatchback in India as the Wagon R Minor. The new Wagon R Minor was recently spotted testing in the country with the same styling and features as the Stingray, but with a WagonR badging.
There is no official confirmation if the new Wagon R Minor will replace the regular model; however, that seems to be the move from the carmaker. As per the dealership communication, the new Wagon R Minor has been priced in the range of Rs 4.13 lakh to Rs 5.36 lakh ex-showroom.
The spy pictures reveal a slightly updated Stingray aka Wagon R Minor, the only new addition is the Wagon R badging on the chrome strip above the license plate. Also, on the inside, the cabin has been updated with dual-tone black and beige interior.
The interior is also seen with beige upholstery compared to the all-black interior of the regular Stingray. The Wagon R Minor will come with body colour options: Superior White, Silky Silver Metallic, Passion Red, Metallic Glistening Grey, Metallic Baker's Chocolate, Metallic Blazing Blue, and Midnight Blue.
Suzuki, the parent company of the Maruti Suzuki have showcased a 7-seater concept based on the WagonR hatchback and was codenamed YJC.
The concept was to serve a new 7-seater Wagon R MPV. With the moniker ‘Minor' in the new rebranded Stingray, it is to be seen if a bigger WagonR will be introduced later.
As for the power to the Wagon R Minor, the specifications remains the same and will continue to get 1.0-litre three cylinder petrol engine and paired with the 5-speed manual or the AMT gearbox.

Also, a new top variant VXI+ will be available with the WagonR Minor and will come with the company's Auto Gear Shift (AGS) AMT unit. A CNG variant could be offered as well.
