Maruti Suzuki Ignis Variants In Detail
The Maruti Suzuki Ignis can be booked on the Nexa website. The Ignis comes in four variants - Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha.
Maruti Suzuki's first big launch of 2017 is the premium urban compact vehicle -- IGNIS. The Ignis will be launched on January 13, 2017, and the bookings have already begun through Nexa's website with a booking amount of Rs 11,000.
The Ignis will be available in four variants: base variant Sigma, mid variants Delta and Zeta, and top-of-the-line Alpha. Maruti is offering both manual and the AMT gearbox options on the Ignis. The Ignis will be powered with the option of either the 1.2-litre petrol mill or the 1.3-litre diesel unit from Maruti Suzuki; however, the base variant Sigma will be available in petrol model only. The Delta and Zeta are the only variants which are offered in AMT and manual gearbox.
Here are the variants of the Ignis in details:
Exterior Design:
The top variant of the Ignis Alpha is designed with chrome accents for the front grille, LED projector headlamps, DRLs, Fog Lamp with chrome garnish, alloy wheels, fender and side sill plastic moulding, body coloured door handles and ORVMs, and puddle lamps.
The Ignis Zeta misses out on LED projector headlamps and DRLs, and puddle lamps compared the Alpha variant.
As for the Delta variant of the Ignis, apart from what Zeta misses out, it misses out on thefront grille with chrome accents, fog lamps, alloy wheels, and the plastic cladding on fender arches and side sills.
The base variant Sigma of the Ignis is available in a petrol model only and features body coloured door handles and ORVMs.
Interior Design:
Starting with the top Alpha variant of the Ignis, it features dual tone dashboard, meter accent lighting, headlamp leveller, sun visors for both driver and co-driver, co-driver vanity mirror, tachometer and chrome accents on the AC vents.
As for the Zeta variant of the Ignis, it misses out only on the meter accent lighting, apart from that it features all of the Alpha variant interior design.
The Delta on the other handinterestingly receives all the features that the Zeta variant offers. The base variant Sigma of the Ignis misses out most of the features except for headlamp leveller and sun visors for both driver and co-driver.
Entertainment:
Here is where the top variant of the Ignis, Alpha scores the best. The Ignis Alpha variant features Smart Play Linkage Display Audio which is Bluetooth and USB enabled. The Ignis Alpha is equipped with four speakers and two tweeters, steering mounted controls, and the Suzuki SLDA Remote App. (which can be used via your smartphone to control the audio system).
As for the Zeta variant of the Ignis, it misses out on the Smart Play Linkage Display Audio instead it is equipped with the 2-din audio with FM and CD and misses out on the Suzuki SLDA Remote App. feature.
The Delta variant of the Ignis, on the other hand,is the same as the Zeta variant except that it is equipped with just two speakers and does not feature tweeters.
The base variant Sigma of the Ignis does not feature any of the entertainment features as the Alpha variant except for the antenna.
Comfort And Convenience:
Under the comfort and convenience, the Ignis is loaded with features. The Alpha variant of the Ignis is equipped with push start button, remote keyless entry, auto AC, electronic foldable and adjustable ORVMs, night and day IRVMs, cup/ bottle holders, driver seat height adjuster, rear seat adjustable head restraints, rear seat 60:40 split, 12 V accessory socket, tilt steering, and front and rear power windows.
As for the Zeta variant of the Ignis, it misses out on auto AC and driver seat height adjuster. The Delta variant of the Ignis misses out push start button and electronic folding ORVMs.
The base variant Sigma of the Ignis receives AC with heater, cup/ Bottle holder, 12 V accessory socket, tilt steering, and front power windows with auto down driver power window.
Safety:
Coming to the most important aspect, the safety features of the Ignis and how the variants are offered.
Maruti Suzuki is offering standard safety fitments of dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX Child Seat Anchorages, Seat Belt Pre-Tensioners with Force Limiters, Pedestrian Protection, Full frontal, Frontal offset, and Side Impact Safe. Apart from the standard fitments in safety features of the Ignis, the variants provide additional features.
The Alpha variant of the Ignis offers security alarm system, rear parking camera and sensors, rear defogger and wiper, childproof rear doors, high-mounted LED stop lamp, Speed sensing auto door locking, driver seat belt reminder, immobiliser, overtaking turn indicator, headlamp ON reminder, and thekey left reminder.
As for the Zeta variant in the Ignis, it misses out only on the rear parking camera though sensor feature is available. The Delta variant, on the other hand, misses out on the sensors as well, misses out on rear defogger and wiper.
The Sigma of the Ignis receives only childproof rear doors, high-mounted LED stop lamp, speed sensing auto door locking, driver seat belt reminder, immobiliser, overtaking turn indicator, headlamp ON reminder, and thekey left reminder.
Observation:
Maruti Suzuki has not compromised on the safety aspects when we compare the variants of the Ignis. Except for premium features such as rear parking sensors and camera, the Ignis is well equipped in the safety aspect. If you are looking for all the exterior features like the projector headlamps, DRLs and the chrome garnishes, only the top variant Alpha offers the same.
The most competitive and exciting variants of the Ignis are the Delta and Zeta variants, both offer most of the features and is available in both manual and AMT gearbox options. However, if you are looking for a fully loaded Ignis, then you will have to forgo the AMT gearbox.
