2017 Maruti Suzuki Dzire Unveiled; Launch Date Revealed
The 2017 Maruti Suzuki Dzire has been unveiled ahead of its official launch next month.
Maruti Suzuki Dzire unveiled ahead of its launch next month. The new Dzire brings in a host of design changes but retains its tried and trusted powertrain lineup.
The new Dzire drops the Swift name, and Maruti expects the new car to outsell its predecessor which was launched in 2008 and then underwent a facelift in 2012.
The new Dzire is based on a derivative of the same platform that underpins the Baleno. The new Dzire has a 40mm longer wheelbase than before which should result in more room inside the car which is helped along by the 40mm increase in width.
Regarding design, Maruti has indeed gone back to the drawing board and ensured that the new Dzire looks like a proper sedan and not a hatchback with a boot attached to it.
The front end of the new Dzire looks the same as the new Swift, but the A-Pillar is more sharply raked, which has resulted in a decrease in the height of the sedan.
Also, the polygonal grille features a chrome frame that gives the car a wider stance up front. Other features include the LED Daytime Running Lights and the LED projector headlamps.
The boot of the new Dzire still is a bit chunky, but it does look a lot more integrated with the rest of the car. The taillamps feature a new LED signature design and are connected by a chrome strip that runs across the width of the boot.
There are two wheel size options available: 14 and 15-inches with top-spec variants set to feature the snazzy new wheels.
Inside, the Dzire features more premium interiors with top-spec variants getting a large touchscreen infotainment display that works with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The steering wheel and the dashboard get new faux wood inserts, and the rear passengers get a dedicated A/C vent.
The new Dzire's drivetrain remains unchanged with the 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel engines carried over from the previous generation car along with the 5-speed manual and the AMT gearbox carried over. Except for the base variant, the AMT gearbox will be offered as an option for all other versions of the Dzire.
Regarding safety features, the new Dzire gets anti-lock brakes (ABS) and driver and front passenger airbags along with ISOFIX points on the rear seats as standard.
The new Dzire will be available in six different colour options at its launch next month on May 16. The six colour options are: Arctic White, Silky Silver, Magma Grey, Gallant Red, Sherwood Brown, and Oxford Blue.
