Spied: Maruti Suzuki Baleno RS To Launch In India Next Month; Images & Details
Powering the Baleno RS will be an all-new Boosterjet engine, the first turbo-petrol motor from Maruti Suzuki.
India's largest automaker Maruti Suzuki showcased the powerful and more sporty RS version of the Baleno at the Auto Expo 2016. The firm is also planning to launch the Baleno RS in the country next month. The model will be only sold exclusively through Maruti's Nexa dealerships.
The Baleno RS has been spotted several times testing on the Indian roads and a new set of images was uploaded on the internet by GaadiWaadi. The photographs reveal that the manufacturer is all geared up with its first hot hatch to enter the Indian market.
From the images, we can clearly say it's more stylish and sportier than the regular version of the Baleno. The RS version gets a sporty front and rear bumper, wider tyres, diamond cut alloys and stylish side skirts. The rear bumper will also feature dual-toned scheme with faux diffusers.
Powering the Baleno RS will be an all-new Boosterjet engine, the first turbo-petrol motor from Maruti Suzuki. The new engine is expected to deliver 110bhp of power and 170Nm of peak torque. Reportedly, the motor will be mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifter.
Currently, Fiat Abarth Punto is the only affordable hatchback model to offer disc brakes for all four wheels. The Baleno RS will join the Punto with all wheel-wheel disc brakes in the segment. On the safety side, the model will also feature ABS and dual airbags as standard.
The Baleno RS will also sport bi-xenon projector headlamps with LED DRLs. Other features like auto headlamps and wipers, electrically adjustable mirrors, automatic climate control, reverse camera and parking sensors and 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system are also included.
When it comes to price, the Baleno RS will be a bit expensive than the regular 1.2-litre petrol variants. We can expect it to come with a price tag of around Rs 9 lakh. The RS version will compete against the likes of Fiat Punto Abarth and Volkswagen Polo GT TSI in the premium hatchback segment.
Maruti Suzuki has launched the Ignis in the Indian market, the hatchback is aggressively priced and is targeted towards millenials. Take a detailed look of the hatchback by clicking the photo gallery below.
