India’s leading passenger vehicle manufacturer Maruti Suzuki’s premium hatchback Baleno has achieved 2,00,000 unit sales in the Indian market.
Autocar Professional reports that the sales of the Baleno have crossed 2,00,000 units in just 20 months. But an official confirmation is awaited from Maruti Suzuki.
Launched back on October 26, 2015, the premium hatchback clocked 1,00,000 units in less than a year. Maruti Suzuki has retailed 1,97,660 units of Baleno till May 2017. With average sales of 16,000 units per month, it is safe to assume that the sales have crossed 2,00,000 units till date.
Maruti Baleno has been a consistent performer in the top 10 best-selling car list. The premium hatchback is Nexa’s most successful model, as the S-Cross did not receive the expected response.
In March 2017, Maruti Suzuki launched the sportier avatar of the premium hatchback, the Baleno RS. The production of the Beano has been bumped up with the new Gujarat plant beginning its operations.
The Maruti Baleno is offered in two engine options – a 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 1.3-litre diesel engine. The Baleno RS is equipped with the new 1-litre Boosterjet engine.
In recent times the premium hatchback segment is growing at a rapid rate. Several manufacturers have introduced their products in this segment. But the Baleno has been a dominant model in this segment with incredible sales volume.
