Mahindra has updated its flagship SUV, the XUV500, with a host of smart hi-tech features. The 2017 Mahindra XUV500 model receives four new features: Android Auto, Connected Apps, Ecosense tech and an Emergency Call function.
The home-grown Utility Vehicle (UV) manufacturer says the new features on the XUV500 will redefine the in-car experience by providing improved connectivity, convenience and entertainment options to the customers. These features will be available on W6 variants and above of the Mahindra XUV500. The Connected Apps and Ecosense tech are two industry-first technologies for India.
Android Auto on the Mahindra XUV500 provides easy access to calls, messaging, navigation, music and Google search by connecting the user's Android device with the infotainment system of the SUV. The technology comes with an easy and instinctive interface, integrated steering controls and powerful voice actions that reduce distraction and allow the driver to stay focused on the road.
Mahindra XUV500 owners can now access a host of essential and entertainment app on the touchscreen infotainment system with the Connected Apps. Key apps include Gaana, Cricket Live, Zomato, and Book My Show along with other India-specific entertainment, music, live cricket updates, flash news, and information on best restaurants.
These apps are preloaded with the infotainment system and do not require a smartphone; however, need the help of a Wi-Fi hotspot to function.
The Ecosense Technology helps optimising fuel consumption and decreases CO2 emissions. The technology is basically like an electronic score sheet that gives you an 'Ecoscore' out of 100, based on driving parameters like - speed, gear selection, acceleration, idling, clutch override and aggressive breaking.
The infotainment system keeps displaying an instantaneous Ecoscore and an average Ecoscore. The technology allows the user to share his/ her Ecoscore on social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and WhatsApp. The user gets easy access to the Ecosense data and history on the infotainment system as well as on the Bluesense app as well as on the With You Hamesha website.
The E-Call feature in the Mahindra XUV500 provides access to emergency services in an unfortunate event when airbags get deployed. The E-Call automatically dials the emergency service as well as sends a text alert to 2 preset numbers through a paired mobile phone.
The Mahindra XUV500 draws power from the company's tried and tested 2.2-litre mHawk diesel unit that produces 140bhp and 330 Nm of peak torque. Gearbox options include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
With the new and hi-tech features of the infotainment system of the Mahindra XUV500, the SUV is now loaded with features. The Mahindra XUV500 is now on par with its rivals regarding features.
