Mahindra Ties Up With Uber To Supply Electric Vehicles

Hundreds of Mahindra EVs in the form of the eVerito sedan and the e2oPlus hatchback will be deployed on the streets of Delhi and Hyderabad as part of a pilot programme by Uber. The cab aggregator and Mahindra plan to expand the programme to more cities across India in the future.

As part of the partnership, Mahindra's electric cars will be offered to driver partners of the service at competitive prices with attractive financing and insurance premiums and comprehensive maintenance packages from the carmaker and its associates. Mahindra and Uber will also work with partners from both the public and private sectors to set up a common-use charging ecosystem in several cities across the country.

Mahindra is currently the only car manufacturer currently selling electric cars in India. The e2oPlus hatchback uses a 200Ah battery pack and a 3-phase AC induction motor and a range of 140 kilometres which can be extended by 10km by using the car's revive. The e2oPlus's battery pack features fast charging which recharges the cells to 90 percent power in 90 minutes.

The eVerito sedan also uses a 200Ah battery pack and a 3-phase AC induction motor and has a range of 110 kilometres and its battery pack is also capable of charging itself back up to 80 percent in 105 minutes thanks to fast charging.

The partnership between Uber and Mahindra comes as a welcome boost to the government's plans to make India fully-electric by 2030. Delhiites especially will welcome the news considering the crazy smog levels in the capital city currently.
