Lexus To Introduce Lane Valet Feature On All Models
Luxury car manufacturer will introduce its new semi-autonomous features named as Lane Valet. Read now to know more about this new technology.
Autonomous Driving and Vehicle To Vehicle (V2V) communication is evolving at a rapid pace. Luxury car maker Lexus has announced its new feature for all models, named as Lane Valet.
The Lane Valet system will improve traffic flow by assisting the movement of slower moving vehicles from the left lane into the right lane. Which, in turn, helps make the highway safe and more enjoyable for all parties.
The Lane Valet system will utilise radar and lane monitoring technology. The new semi-autonomous system will help drivers to communicate with slower vehicles.
The Lane Valet system will be activated with the touch of a button on the dash. The radar and cameras will scan the road, while the V2V system will communicate with slower vehicles.
Once the communication is established, the Lane Valet will initiate a safe lane change. The slower vehicle's right turn indicator will turn on and moves the vehicle to the right lane. Thus allowing the faster vehicles to move on the left lane.
General Manager, Lexus Product and Consumer Marketing, Brian Bolain said, "Lane Valet was conceived by top Lexus engineers who understand the importance of safe and steady driving conditions."
The Lexus Lane Valet will be introduced as an optional feature in all models from April 1, 2017. Bolian added, "An appropriate vehicle speed without excessive braking offers optimal fuel efficiency, better traffic flow and decreased driver frustration."
