Lexus, the luxury brand of Japanese carmaker Toyota is set to enter India in the very near future. The official launch date for Lexus in India is expected to occur on March 24, 2017.
Lexus will enter India with three models -two SUVs and a sedan. The two SUVs will be the RX450h hybrid and its top of the line LX branded large SUV. The entry point for Indian Lexus owners will be the ES300h hybrid sedan which shares most of its underpinnings with the Camry hybrid.
The RX450h SUV is tentatively priced at Rs 1.17 crore and is powered by a 3.5-litre, V6 petrol motor coupled with an electric motor. The hybrid powertrain is coupled to a CVT gearbox and produces 304bhp.
The LX series is the flagship of the Lexus lineup and India will be getting both the LX450d and the Lexus LX570, both of which use engines that power the Toyota Land Cruiser.
The 450d is powered by a twin-turbo 4.5-litre V8 diesel engine that produces 265bhp and 650Nm of torque.
The LX570 is powered by a 5.7-litre V8 engine that cranks out 378bhp and 546Nm of torque.
The LX450 is priced at Rs 2 crore while the LX570 comes in at Rs 2.15 crore.
The Lexus ES300h will be the first Lexus sedan to officially enter the country and is powered by the same engine and motor hybrid powertrain that propels the Toyota Camry hybrid in India. The ES300h is priced at Rs 75 lakh though that number could go down soon.
