The New BMW Art Car For The 21st Century Revealed
BMW has revealed its latest Art Car, the 21st century virtual art car, based on the M6 GT3.
The first BMW Art Car was commissioned back in 1975 and has carried on till date. Now, the German carmaker has unveiled the 21st Century Art Car.
The new Art Car is a BMW M6 GT3 and is finished in naked carbon fibre. The artist behind the new Art Car is Cao Fei, a Chinese artist.
Coming to the art on the car, well, the car features no art, at least to the naked eye. One needs to download the ‘BMW Art Car #18' app from the App Store and point the phone's camera towards the car.
This makes the art appear in all its glory in the phone's camera. The lights transform the car into a complete digital structure that reflects a traditional spiritual ceremony performed commonly throughout Asia.
The BMW Art Car truly lives up to the expectations of what one would want in the ‘digital' 21st century — a virtual art car.
