Land Rover Planning Extreme Discovery SVX — The Ultimate Off-Roader?
Land Rover is working on an extreme off-road focused version of the Discovery.
British SUV marque Land Rover is working on an extreme version of the Discovery SUV which will be focused on all-out off-road performance.
The new bonkers Discovery will be one of the upcoming creations of Jaguar Land Rover's (JLR) Special Vehicles Operations (SVO) division, which plans to introduce a new halo product based on a different JLR model every year for the next three or four years.
Speaking to Auto Express, SVO boss John Edwards stated that the extreme Discovery would be in between a Paris-Dakar rally car and Camel Trophy vehicle regarding off-road capability. The extreme Disco variant
The new Discovery is expected to sport loads of body cladding along with chunky tyres suited for dune bashing and mud plugging and other off-road fun. Also expect some spotlights as well.
Underpinning the new Discovery will be a reworked version of the Discovery's chassis to help the extreme Disco's off-road capabilities. Helping the off-road Discovery along will be a revised version of the top-spec variant's 3.0-litre turbocharged V6.
The new off-road crazy Discovery is expected to bear the SVX badge when it hits the trails, which it could as early as next year.
