Land Rover Discovery Sport To Get New Diesel Engine — India Launch Details Revealed
The Land Rover Discovery Sport will be powered by the new in-house developed 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel engine and will come in two different states of tune - 149bhp and 179bhp.
The Land Rover Discovery Sport will be the next in line from Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) to receive the new 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel engine in India.

The Discovery Sport is the last product from JLR to use the 2.2-litre diesel engine in the country. With the introduction of the in-house developed 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel unit will thus mark the end of the 2.2-litre motors' lifespan in JLR's India line-up. This will also bring the model's engine range in line with the company's international portfolio.

The Discovery Sport's new 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel unit will come in two different states of tune - a 149bhp and a more powerful 179bhp variant as well.

While the 149bhp derivative will be offered in the lower variants, the 179bhp will be available in the top variants. The 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel unit will be mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox which does the duty on the current model.

As per Autocar India, the updated Discovery Sport will be available at dealerships sometime around April 2017 with the launch expected anytime sooner.

Once launched, the updated Discovery Sport will compete with the likes of Mercedes-Benz GLC and the BMW X3.
