Lamborghini Urus - Here's Everything You Need To Know About The Go-Anywhere Lambo
Lamborghini is all set to unveil the Urus SUV on December 4.
25 years ago, production of Lamborghini's first-ever SUV, the LM002, known as the 'Rambo Lambo' came to a halt. For two and half decades, the Italian marque stuck to doing what it does best, building outrageous supercars that were as fast on the road as they looked standing still.
However, after two and a half decades, Lamborghini is all set to re-enter the world of SUVs with the Urus and if you're wondering what the new Lambo SUV will bring to the table, then wonder no more as we list out everything Lamborghini has revealed till date.
The First Turbocharged Lamborghini
The new Lamborghini Urus is powered by an all-new 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine which produces 641bhp which will be sent to all four wheels.
While the Volkswagen group does have a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 developed by Porsche, The engine in the Urus is a bespoke powerplant developed specifically for the Urus.
The new turbocharged engine also marks the first time in its 54-year history that Lamborghini will be ditching naturally aspirated engines.
Not Entirely Bespoke
While the engine on the upcoming Urus may be a bespoke Lamborghini unit, the platform on which the SUV is based is anything but. The new Urus is based on the VW group's modular MQB EVO platform that also underpins the Audi Q7, the Bentley Bentayga and the Porsche Cayenne.
It Will Be Fast
Lamborghini and fast are two words that go together like peas in a pod. Lamborghini is aiming for the SUV track record at the Nurburgring, which is currently held by the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio with a lap time of 7:51.7.
Lamborghini also claims that Urus will have a top speed in excess of 300kph which would make it the fastest SUV in the world, a record currently held by the Bentley Bentayga.

However, the Urus has to go off road as well and to help it roar through the rough stuff, Lamborghini has fitted it with three more driving modes suited for off-roading.
The three off-roading modes - Sabbia (Sand), Terra (Gravel) and Neve (Snow) - which will allow it to handle any kind of terrain anywhere on the planet.

Lamborghini Accidentally Revealed Its Design
When Lamborghini first teased the Corsa mode, it accidentally revealed the design of the new Urus. While the Italian firm did pull down the video and replace it with the one seen earlier in this article, the old video still survives thanks to the joys of the interweb. Head to the 11-second mark to see what the new Lambo Urus looks like.
The Mistakes Don't Stop —Urus Will Go Hybrid
While hybrid technology may be sacrilegious to fans of the raging bull, but the fact that can't be avoided is the fact that Lamborghini is part of the VW group. With VW planning to go electric, a plug-in hybrid version of the Urus is expected to arrive later in the SUV's life cycle.
However, the hybrid will be focused more towards fuel efficiency, a word that that will cause heartburn for sure.
