Lamborghini has revealed its latest supercar, the Aventador S Roadster ahead of its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show on September 12, 2017.
The Lamborghini Aventador S Roadster features identical visual and technical upgrades as its fixed roof sibling except for the open-air driving experience.
The prominent highlight of the supercar is the removable hardtop roof panels that weigh less than 6kg. The roof can be removed and stored in the front trunk; it also features personalisation options with matte black carbon fibre or high gloss black and shiny visible carbon fibre finish.
The rear window of the car can be opened or closed with a touch of a button when the roof is removed. The drop-top variant is 50kg heavier than the coupe; the Roadster weighs 1,625kg.
The Aventador S Roadster draws power from the existing 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine pumping out 730bhp and 690Nm of torque. The engine is coupled to a 7-speed gearbox with paddle shifters which can change gears in the blink of an eye. The car can sprint from 1-100km/h in just 3 seconds before topping out at 350km/h.
The drop-top variant of the Aventador S also features four-wheel steering, new active suspension, recalibrated driving modes which include the new EGO and updated software in the ESC. All these changes will aid in sharper handling and improved responsiveness.
Lamborghini will also offer the Ad Personam personalisation option on the Aventador S Roadster. The revealed car is finished with Blue Aegir colour scheme. On the interior, customers can choose from several Alcantara and leather options.
The interior of the drop-top supercar sports TFT digital dashboard and infotainment system with Apple CarPlay. The car is equipped with standard carbon ceramic brakes and shod with Pirelli P Zero tyres.
The drop-top variant of the Aventador S looks stunning. But aesthetically and technically, the supercar is more or less identical to the coupe version. Despite the gain in weight, the performance of the car remains the same which shows that Lamborghini has worked on the engine and handling of the car.
