Jeep Yuntu 7-Seater SUV Concept Teased Ahead Of Unveil
Jeep builds a 7-seater, plug-in hybrid SUV designed to target the Chinese market.
Jeep has been teasing its Shanghai-bound concept for some time now, but now we finally have some high-resolution images of the show car.

Official teasers for the concept SUV understood to be called the Yuntu, have surfaced and it reveals a modern, yet a beautiful design language that we're hoping it makes it to production. The teaser images also show that a plug-in hybrid powertrain powers the concept.

The beltline, floating roof and wheel arches echo details of the latest Jeep Compass. However, the front and rear of the concept are different. The concept is also thought to be slotted between the Cherokee and Grand Cherokee and fitted with third-row seats.

The Jeep Yuntu concept isn't a serious off-roader, though. You can say because of its low departure angle.

PHEV emblems on the doors validate that the Yuntu uses a plug-in hybrid drivetrain, a technology Jeep is looking to bring to the market in the coming years. The company though has not revealed the technical specifications yet.

And by the way, Jeep is referring to the concept SUV as Yuntu, which supposedly means cloud map or something in Chinese.
Let's hope Jeep will confirm something at the Auto Shanghai 2017 about the prospects of the Yuntu Concept making it into production.
