Jeep Scrambler Pickup To Get Optional Soft-Top Roof
The upcoming Jeep Scrambler pickup based on the Wrangler is set to get an optional soft-top roof. Click for more details.
Jeep has been testing its pickup truck, said to bear the moniker Scrambler for a while now. The Scrambler, based on the Wrangler SUV will go into production a year from now in November 2018 at the same facility that produces the current Wrangler.

Automotive News, citing Internal sources, is claiming that the new Jeep Scrambler will come with an optional soft-top roof which can be lowered or completely removed.
This roof setup is similar to the one found on the latest-gen Jeep Wrangler, which will make its debut in a few days time at the 2017 LA Auto Show.
The news also means that the Jeep Scrambler will be offered with three different roof options when it arrives: a three-piece hardtop painted black or in the body colour and the new soft-top.

The new Scrambler's chassis is expected to be significantly longer than the one that underpins the current-generation of the Wrangler (codenamed JL). The Scrambler will share the same powertrain options that will arrive with the new Wrangler (codenamed JK).
The 2018 Wrangler is expected to feature two petrol engines - a 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder and a 3.6-litre V6 - along with a 3.0-liter V6 diesel. Expect both manual (stick to Americans) and automatic gearboxes to be offered on the Scrambler when it arrives next year.

DriveSpark Thinks!
The Jeep Scrambler will see Jeep finally dip its topes into the pickup truck market and if the Scrambler is anything like the Wrangler expect it to get Jeep's rock-climbing DNA, though the massive rear overhang as seen on the 2016 Crew Chief 715 concept images (seen in the two images above the previous one) could be a concern for some. We expect more news on the Scrambler to arrive at the LA Auto Show next week.
