Spy Pics: Jeep Renegade Spotted Testing In Bangalore; Launch Imminent
The Jeep Renegade will slot below the recently unveiled Compass SUV and will compete with Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster.
American SUV manufacturer Jeep entered India on August 30, 2016 and launched the Grand Cherokee and the Wrangler in India.
Recently, Jeep unveiled the Compass SUV in India which will rival the likes of Land Rover Discovery. However, the company wants to be aggressive in its offering in the country and is looking to launch the Renegade compact SUV.
The Jeep Renegade is expected to compete with the Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster among others. Jeep has been extensively testing the Renegade on Indian roads, as spy pics captured in the IT capital of India, Bangalore.
Jeep's smallest SUV still wore a heavy camouflage; however, most of the Renegade's design language can be easily found on the test mule.
The test mule keeps the same boxy SUV shape as the Renegade sold outside of India. Up front, Jeep's signature multi-slat grille is considerably evident as are the round headlamps. Below the grille sits a chunky bumper housing a large air dam in the centre along with fog lamps on either side.
As for the side profile, SUV looks quite boxy along with the pumped up wheel arches. The Renegade test mule wears 10-spoke alloy wheels.
At the rear, the taillamps are quite small and trivial compared to the rest of the rear end featuring a large bumper and a roof spoiler.
The Jeep Renegade is expected to sport a 1.4-litre and 2.4-litre diesel powertrains.
The Renegade is expected to launch in India soon, and will be the company's entry-level vehicle. Stay tuned to DriveSpark for the complete coverage of the upcoming Jeep Renegade.
