Jeep Renegade India Launch Details Revealed
Jeep will launch the Renegade SUV in India by the end of 2018; 1.4-litre MultiAir, 2.0-litre diesel powerplants likely.
Jeep has recently revealed its most affordable SUV for India, the Compass. The latest update from the American utility specialist is that it will also launch the Jeep Renegade in India next year.
As per Overdrive, the India-spec Renegade which is Jeep's entry-level SUV in the US will be available in 4X2 and 4X4 models in four variants - Sport, Latitude, Altitude and Trailhawk.
The first three variants receive a 1.4-litre MultiAir turbocharged petrol unit producing 158bhp and 250Nm paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
Trail Rated variant of the Renegade will receive a 2.4-litre naturally aspirated MultiAir petrol motor which churns out 178bhp and 237Nm of torque and comes mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox.
The Jeep Renegade measures 4,232mm and 2,022mm in length and width, around 40mm shorter and 242mm wider than the Hyundai Creta.
The company hasn't revealed the Renegade's pricing or which powertrains the SUV will get in India. The Renegade is expected to be slotted below the upcoming Jeep Compass.
Also, the SUV is expected it to be manufactured locally at the Ranjangaon plant alongside the Jeep Compass.
