This Redesigned Jeep Compass Is The Safest SUV You Can Drive
The redesigned Jeep Compass tested by IIHS has won the Top Safety Pick award.
The recently launched Jeep Compass is the most affordable SUV from the stable of American automaker. The Compass is equipped with a host of safety features, which helped the SUV to score 5-star safety rating in the Euro NCAP crash tests.
Now, within a month, the Compass has another jewel in its crown. Yes, the SUV has won the Top Safety Pick award from Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
The Compass used for crash testing was slightly redesigned with optional front protection system and the SUV scored impressive ratings in all the five crash tests conducted by Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
The five crash tests by IIHS include small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side strength, roof strength and head restraints. The Jeep Compass was also equipped with high-intensity discharge lights and high beam assist which automatically switches to high or low beam depending on the presence of vehicles in the opposite direction.

Apart from that, the Jeep Compass was also equipped with advanced front crash prevention system to avoid a collision in the speeds of 20km/h and 40km/h. The system comprises of forward collision warning system which complies with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) norm. But the tested Compass is different from the SUV sold in the Indian market.
The India-spec Compass also comes loaded with safety features such as six airbags with dual-stage activation, ESP (Electronic Stability Control), Traction Control system and ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brake force Distribution).
Apart from that the Compass also gets seat belt warning system, engine immobilizer and speed sensing door lock. The Compass is the most affordable SUV from Jeep in the Indian market which is priced between Rs Rs. 15.16 lakh and Rs. 21.37 lakh ex-showroom (Delhi).
